  13.     was build? Is it still based on the virtual stack machine
  14.     as the interpreter or there is better representation? And

  18. Ken Walker's dissertation describes the implementation in detail. 
  19. It is published as Technical Report 91-16 by the University of
  20. Arizona's Department of Computer Science.  Contact the TR librarian
  21. (tr-libr@cs.arizona.edu) for information about obtaining a copy.

  23. The source code for the compiler is included in the Unix distribution
  24. package for Icon.  I should maybe add a warning that the Icon group's
  25. efforts have mostly focused on the interpreter lately.  The compiler
  26. by its very nature is much more complex and you don't want to mess with
  27. it unless you *really* need to.
